Sanskrit

         Department of Sanskrit is one of the initial departments to be started in the college. It came into existence in 1950 under the guidance of Sh. Vijay Chander Shastri. Another pillar of the department is AcharayaSatyaKamji who took it to new heights. Sanskrit is a very rich language and many languages have its origin in it. It is being used as the main language from times immemorial. All our Vedas and Upnishads are also written in Sanskrit. The knowledge of this language inculcates moral values in students and gives the message of “Satyam ShivamSundram” to the whole world.

         Students of all the streams belonging to arts, science, can opt for Sanskrit as a subject at graduation level. Students of Sanskrit department as well as other students tooparticipate in various literary and cultural activities like declamation, shloka recitation, Sukti-lekhan, Sketch making and one act Sanskrit plays. The mission of Sanskrit is to inculcate values among students , to educate them to be good citizens and to build a bridge between the ancient Indian knowledge systems and the current knowledge systems.
