The department of economics was started in 1950, with the establishment of the college. The department of economics is one of the premium departments of higher learning. Dedicated faculty of department believes that learning is a continuous process and does not end with a mere degree. Students are given not only theoretical knowledge of the subject but also in-depth technical knowledge and opportunities available in the world. The subject spans the range from theory through solutions to economics problems.

The department has a platform “Planning Forum” through which students participate in activities like essay writing, slogan writing, extension lecture, quiz competitions and seminars.

The department has a wall magazine through which the students update themselves with the current changes in global economy.
