The association between man and environment is emerging strongly with surfacing of environmental problems as a result of modernization and development. Man is an integral part of natural ecosystems. The coming generations need to know about environmental pollution, resource degradation, population explosion, biodiversity conservation and industrial impacts. With this insight, Department of Environmental Studies, Dayanand Post Graduate College, Hisar was established with a vision of imparting fundamental knowledge of relationship between man and the environment, to undergraduate students of the institute. The department has been conducting the course as per University Grants Commission guidelines since 2004. A total of approximately two thousand students of 1st year (including B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BBA and BMC) are imparted with knowledge of the subject (environmental problems of regional and global scale) each year. During the period of study, students are usually involved and encouraged with extra-curricular activities like posters and slogans making; and quiz competition related to awareness about the environmental issues. 

VISION

To be an eminent and renowned department of Environmental Studies for conducting innovative teaching, and high quality program for it’s undergraduate through inter-disciplinary subjects. Department programs will provide significant contributions to India’s goal of achieving Service to humanity through expansion and dissemination of Environmental knowledge.

MISSION

The mission aims through quality teaching to prepare undergraduate students to dwell into academia for developing sustainable solutions to environmental problems, in meeting global challenges in supplies of natural resources, mitigation of natural hazards, protection of the environment, and public awareness of the significance of science and implementation of environmental policies through quality teaching and diverse.

OBJECTIVE

The objectives of environmental education are to increase public awareness about environmental issues, explore possible solutions, and to lay the foundations for a fully informed and active participation of individual in the protection of environment and the prudent and rational use of natural resources.
