Library

Library was established in the year 1950 and named after great freedom fighter, “Lala Lajpat Rai”, so the name of college library is Lala Lajpat Rai Library. Library consists 39576 Books, out of which 32187 Books are in the General Section and 7389 Books are in Book-Bank section.

The College Library is situated in the heart of the college campus. Consisting of three beautifully built reading halls, it provides comfortable seating for 250 students. It stocks over 82041 books is complemented by regular subscription of some 70 national and international journals that provide adequate and sufficient reading material to the students. We provide Reference Service to the students and help readers to locate the desired books by the use of OPAC. The library provides internet facility to the students. It also offers computerized circulation service, reference service and book bank facility.


Through a scheme of Haryana Government, library provides financial assistance to the needy students under the scheme, ‘Earn while you learn’. Full sets of books are provided to the needy and meritorious students and there is also ‘photocopy service’ on subsidized rates for the students. New books are regularly displayed and information through notice boards is provided about various career opportunities. Fully computerized library equipped with latest gadgets is one of the prominent features of the college. It has Edu - Sat to disseminate the information to readers through satellite. Book Exhibitions are organized for avid readers from time to time. 

Library is led by Sh. Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Librarian.

Every book in the library is Geo tagged. Computerized circulation counter with Kiosk machine for issue of books and Drop box machine for the return of books, is made available for automatic circulation of books.

The facility of Open Access System is adopted in the Library.

POXO Library Management Software is adopted in the library.

A well stocked library is an asset to the college.

Library is serving as Nerve Centre of the college.

Objectives/Aims of College Library

Objective of the Library is to meet the informational, recreational and educational needs of the readers and thereby to facilitate learning, research, and training and consultancy activities at the college. It caters the needs of more than 6000 students and 200 Teachers and non-teaching staff. Library is well equipped with all modern facilities and resources. Library follows Dewey decimal classification scheme to classify the books according to subject. OPAC (Online Public Access Cataloguing) helps the readers to locate their required books, according to author wise, subject wise, title wise and so on. About Six Hundred E Books in the PDF form on different topics are available in the Library; any reader may download it free of cost. Back issues of magazines, periodicals and journals are available for issue purposes in Boys Reading Room. Two Air Conditioners and Four CCTV Cameras are installed in the Library. Books from the S.C./S.T. cell, are provided free of cost to the needy students from Boys Reading Room. Computers with internet and Wi-Fi facilities are available for the students in Main Library and Boys Reading Room. On line journals and E-Books are available on N-List programme, available in the Library. Library contains total 85861 Books, out of it 30050 books are in Book-Bank section.
